Vietnam Diving

Vietnam is becoming an increasingly popular diving destination due to its diverse population of fish and coral, as well as superb underwater scenery.

Nha Trang, Whale Island and Con Dao have some of the best diving spots in Vietnam. Easily accessible these diving sites house an amazing variety of beautiful and rare marine life. The Underwater moonscape also hides some interesting caves to explore. The dive sites include easy ones for beginners or more challenging spots for those that prefer to test themselves.

At Nha Trang, Moray Beach and Moray Rock are shallow dives with strange rock formations, beautiful corals and marine life. If you are lucky you can spot giant moray eels and the black spotted morey eel. Among other favorite diving spots at Nha Trang are: Rainbow Reef, with outstanding colors from the unique biodiverse of hard and soft corals; Madonna Rock, a 25 m dive with exciting swim-throughs and caves; Goat Rock, a spectacular deep wall dive down to 40 meters depth; The Electric Nose, another dramatic deep dive down to 45 meters; The Outer Islands, an unexplored group of islands offering diving from 10-50 meters.

Con Dao is a 16 island archipelago situated 180 kilometers off Vung Tao on the southeast coast of Vietnam. One of only two Marine National Parks in the country. Con Dao has largely escaped the exploitation and destructive fishing that have been the fate of other reefs in Vietnam and is considered one of the best examples of marine conservation in the country. There are over 1,000 hectares of amazing coral reefs well stocked with beautiful marine life. The sea grass meadows support a small population of the globally endangered dugong, there are also hawksbill turtles that nest on the islands.

Whale Island is a idyllic resort on a peninsula about 80 km. north of Nha Trang. The area has been associated with scuba diving for many years and is ideal for beginners as well as more experienced divers, with gentle sloping beach dives and deep drops. There are several dive sites around the area, including: Hon Trau Nam (Three Kings), a stunning site for experienced divers with swim-throughs and caves, manta rays and even whale sharks are among the species to be found here; Hon Kho Trang is a rocky islet 90 minutes offshore with two dive sites, coral gardens, good visibility and marine life; at Hon Tai (Ear Island) you can dive over a coral plateau, nurse and white tip sharks are often spotted, this site is one of the most visited; other sites include Napoleon Rock, Raoul's Reef, Bai Su and Hon Ong well known for night dives.
